    FAQs

Have more questions about moving? Here are answers to the most frequently asked questions.

    • When is the best time to move to Austin?

Heat and habits are two major factors when deciding when to move to Austin. In general, the heat breaks in late September or October, making those months much more comfortable for a move. If you want to relocate when there is the greatest chance of finding available leases, however, July is a good choice, with many families and students starting and ending leases at that time. If you choose to move in the summer, just make sure you hire professional movers who will be accustomed to moving heavy items in the heat, rather than trying to do the work yourself.

    • Who regulates the move?

Your move may be guided by any number of regulations, depending upon the type of move it is (i.e. Residential, interstate, etc.), how you are moving (i.e. Personal or military), who you choose to move you (i.e. Self move or hiring movers) and other factors. However, at Ward North American, our professional teams of movers are aware of and in compliance with all applicable regulations. As a result, you do not need to worry about whether or not we are following all requirements during the move. We will take care of every detail. In addition, we are always happy to comply with any special requests or instructions you may have regarding your move.

    • What is the average cost of moving from Dallas to Austin?

The average cost of a move from Dallas to Austin is between $1,300 and $4,900. The exact cost of your move will depend upon the exact distance between your current home and your new home, the number of belongings you have to move, specialty items that require extra care, the addition of services such as packing, and more.

Studio Apartment 1 Large Bedroom 2 Bedrooms 3 Bedrooms 4 Bedrooms
      $1,300 to $1,620 $1,450 to $2,455 $1,620 to $3,100 $2,000 to $3,432 $2,690 to $4,902
    • Where to stop along the move from Dallas to Austin?

You may find it necessary to stop during the 3-hour trip between Dallas and Austin for fuel, a break, or a meal. You will probably not need to stop overnight since the drive can easily be completed in one day. Waco makes a convenient location for stopping, since it is almost exactly halfway between the two cities. We will always set a predetermined location for any necessary stops along the way.

    • Where is the best place to live in Austin?

Austin is a large city covering just over 271 square miles. Since public transportation and biking paths are not as developed there as in some other cities, you will need to own a car or live close enough to work to walk. As a result, the best place to live in the city is within an easy drive or walk to your job. In general, affordable yet up and coming locations are available on the east side of the city, so starting your home or apartment search there is a good choice.

    • How long does it take to move from Dallas to Austin?

The length of your move will depend upon a number of factors, such as the time it takes to pack your belongings, load the truck, drive to your new location, and unload the truck. It may also take extra time to drop items off at a storage facility. Once your belongings are packed and the truck is on the way, the drive to Austin should only take about 3 hours. When we meet with you to discuss your move, we will provide you with an accurate timeframe for your relocation from Dallas to Austin.

    • Do road conditions affect moving?

Road conditions can affect the efficiency and timing of a move. For example, bad weather or traffic jams can delay the trip between your old location and your new one. Damaged roads can also be an obstacle to a move. In order to prevent these issues, our moving team will plan their route ahead of time. Together with you, they will establish a reliable and efficient route to achieve a seamless relocation.

    • What to expect when moving from Dallas to Austin?

One of the biggest changes you can expect when you move from Dallas to Austin is in the general approach to life between the two cities. Dallas is more professional and traditional, while Austin is more relaxed and free-flowing. Austin is also a more politically liberal city, so expect changes in people’s approach to politics. Cooler weather and a culture that embraces cycling (As well as bad rush hour traffic) makes bicycling a popular pastime.
